Using customer and market discovery best practices, we find product-market fit and develop it into efficient business models . Model and market evaluations inform development of sustainable funding plans and partnering strategies for a range of technologies, government/university R&D, and private-sector industries.

We are strategically located in Tennessee's Technology Corridor near Oak Ridge National Lab, and other major research institutions.

Technical Expertise: Catbird Consulting offers broad technical experience across diverse sectors including corporate research and development, classified government test programs, and operations of multi-million dollar advanced energy systems.

The team’s expertise covers a range of industries bridging advanced energy, critical infrastructure, resiliency, environment, military and public health. Recent project areas include solar energy, composites, nuclear enrichment, rare earth metals, and ultrasonic drying. We aim to support and partner with new ventures and startup companies working to change the way technical industries work.

Startup Company Leadership: Catbird Consulting supports burgeoning technology companies with leadership development and accelerates early company funding, business development, and strategic partnership for commercial markets. We are passionate about new ventures and the challenge and promise they provide to make the world a better place.

Interdisciplinary Approach: Often times, silos arise when experts from different backgrounds come together to solve multi-disciplinary technical and business challenges leading to failure. Innovative Funding: New venture funding allows emerging startups to rapidly scale, which is critical in an increasingly competitive market. However, these critical funding sources often require giving up part of company ownership (equity/dilutive funding) or obtaining a loan (taking on debt).

Catbird Consulting offers resources for alternative funding that doesn’t take a piece of company ownership or require payback of debt. This non-dilutive funding takes the form of grants, prizes, and contracts. We support successful partnerships with unique programs such as the Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR/STTR) program, The Department of Energy’s American Made Challenges, Challenge.gov, and other programs.

Technical Program Management: The Catbird team has led numerous technical development programs and projects in private, government, and military sectors. We have served as Principal Investigator (PI) of Federal research projects, Grant Writing leads and are certified Project Management Professionals (PMP).
